An election was held to determine the validity of the annexation by the sparsely populated town of North Little Rock (Pulaski County) of the area known as Argenta, which had previously been designated as the Eighth Ward of Little Rock (Pulaski County). Resentment over the preemption of Argenta by Little Rock had long festered. Results of the vote, which overwhelmingly favored North Little Rock’s annexation of the area, were sealed by the courts and led to the matter being referred to the state Supreme Court.
