Poet John Gould Fletcher was born in Little Rock (Pulaski County). Fletcher is widely acknowledged as one of the state’s most notable literary figures. He enjoyed an international reputation for much of his long career, earned the Pulitzer Prize in poetry, and participated in movements that shaped twentieth-century literature.
