Country music artist Martin Delray was born in Texarkana (Miller County). Best known for his 1991 cover of Johnny Cash’s “Get Rhythm,” Delray began his music career in North Hollywood, California, by playing the West Coast club circuit before becoming a staff songwriter for a music production company owned by Seals and Crofts. Delray signed to Atlantic Records in 1990 after label chief Rick Blackburn heard one of his demos, and he released his first album, Get Rhythm, in 1991. He released his second and final album, What Kind of Man, in 1992 before being dropped from Atlantic due to poor record sales.
