Samuel Billingsley Hill, an Arkansas-born politician who represented the state of Washington in the U.S. Congress for over a decade, died in Bethesda, Maryland. Born in Franklin (Izard County), Hill received his early education in local schools before attending the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville (Washington County), graduating from the school’s law program in 1898. In 1904, Hill moved to Washington state and settled in the town of Waterville, where he opened a private practice. He went on to serve in positions as prosecuting attorney of Douglas County and judge in the superior court of Douglas and Grant counties before being elected to Congress in 1923.
