August 1, 1922

An African American man named Gilbert Harris was lynched in downtown Hot Springs (Garland County) after having allegedly murdered Maurice Connally, a prominent young business man. This was the second lynching to occur at the downtown location called Como Triangle, the first being that of Will Norman in 1913. The Hot Springs Confederate Monument was later placed at the same location.
