Howard Jacob Simon was a nationally recognized oil painter, watercolorist, and woodcut illustrator in the 1920s and 1930s. He is perhaps best known for illustrating the works of his first wife, author Charlie May Simon, and her father, Wayman Hogue. The artist is shown here in a self-portrait.
