The tower located in the main plaza at East Arkansas Community College (EACC) in Forrest City (St. Francis County), the first two-year comprehensive college in eastern Arkansas, is a major landmark on the campus. Chartered in 1969, the school opened for classes in 1974. Today, it offers varied educational opportunities to more than 1,400 regular students. Hundreds more local residents attend non-credit classes offered by the institution.
