Shown here is the funeral procession leading to the burial of World War I hero Herman Davis of Manila (Mississippi County). Upon the conclusion of the war, Davis was named to General John Pershing’s list of the top 100 soldiers. As a member of the 113th Infantry, Twenty-ninth Division, he was awarded a number of decorations, including the Distinguished Service Cross. Today, his burial site is the smallest state park in the system.
