Jeff Davis, whose 19011907 governorship was one of the most tumultuous in Arkansas history, is shown here in an 1895 photo with his hunting dogs. Davis was born near Rocky Comfort (Little River County) in 1862 and was named after Confederate president Jeff Davis.
