Ground was broken for Little Rock Air Force Base located near Jacksonville (Pulaski County) in 1953. Less than two years later, the base was activated. Since its opening, the base has been home to many different air force groups, including the Forty-third Bomb Wing, which flew the B-58 bomber pictured here, a high-speed jet capable of supersonic flight.
