Elbert English

Elbert H. English (1816-1884) was chief justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court when the state seceded from the Union in 1861. English was also secretary at St. Johns’ College in the mid-1800s and was a prominent Arkansas Freemason. He is buried at Mount Holly Cemetery.
