Lucy Babcock, who was active in the theater scene in Little Rock (Pulaski County), died in her sleep; she is buried in Little Rock’s National Cemetery. Babcock was a noted actress in theater and television who established the first community theater in Little Rock. She also fostered the literary organizations her grandmother, writer Bernie Babcock, founded. She gained recognition in 1987 for using her cane to beat a man who was attacking a young woman outside Babcock’s apartment.
