A log-cabin-style home built by Works Progress Administration workers on Crossett Experimental Forest property for Russell R. Reynolds and his family was sufficiently completed for occupancy. Reynolds had been hired by the Crossett Lumber Company to work with the United States Forestry Service to conduct inventories and help landowners develop sustainable forestry plans. He and members of his family occupied the house for the next thirty-three years.
