Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Bishop Andrew J. McDonald of the Diocese of Little Rock appeared together at a special rally at Ray Winder Baseball Field in Little Rock (Pulaski County). McDonald had written to Mother Teresa in January to ask for sisters of her order, Missionaries of Charity, to take over the ministry of Abba House, a home for unwed mothers in Little Rock. Mother Teresa came to Little Rock to see the fledgling Abba House for herself, and she sent four sisters to run Abba House in July 1983.
