Garland County native Patsy Montana died in San Jacinto, California. Later that year, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Montana was a pioneering country music singer whose signature song, “I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart,” was the first song by a female country artist to sell a million copies.
