Johnnie Taylor, a popular gospel and R&B singer known as the “Philosopher of Soul,” whose recording career spanned forty-six years, was born in Crawfordsville (Crittenden County). His single, “Disco Lady,” was the first single ever to be certified platinum. It sold more than two million copies.
