Arkansas governor Bill Clinton, while campaigning for the Democratic nomination for president, addressed two church congregations in Washington DC on the need for healing the racial divide in America following mass rioting in Los Angeles, California. The riots were in response to the acquittal of the police officers accused of beating Rodney King in March 1991.
