Pfeiffer, whose family lived in Piggott (Clay County), was in Paris, France, on an assignment for Vogue magazine when she married Hemingway. Hemingway later lived with the Pfeiffer family for a brief period and wrote part of his novel A Farewell to Arms at their residence.
