The Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs (Garland County) burned. One fireman was killed and two others were injured during the blaze. The headline in the Arkansas Gazette the following day read, “Some Rescue Hooch as Others Save Trapped Guests from Upper Floors—Golf-Playing Visitors Hard Hit.”
