Martin White Greeson, an attorney and civic activist who spent most of his life advocating for the construction of a dam on the Little Missouri River, died in Prescott (Nevada County). Greeson began his advocacy to secure a dam in 1900 and was eventually appointed to the Arkansas Flood Control Commission, where he continued his efforts until 1941, when the U.S. Congress approved the Little Missouri River project and authorized $3 million for its implementation, although it was delayed due to World War II. The resulting Lake Greeson was named in his honor.
