Patricia Washington McGraw was born in Little Rock. She went on to become an important education and African American cultural preservationist, teaching at Philander Smith College, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and the University of Central Arkansas. She also operated the McGraw Learning Institute, a private school that emphasized the importance of African and African American history.
