Located on Crooked Creek in Marion County, the town of Pyatt voted to receive full incorporation. The first land surveys show that the area was cleared for growing cotton around 1832. By 1855, the community had a post office, cotton gin, steam mill, and physician. The town received the name of Pyatt after the White River branch of the Missouri Pacific Railroad built a line through the area in 1904, leading to the construction of a depot and an influx of settlers from the neighboring community of Powell. Following incorporation, different churches began to establish themselves in the area, including an Assembly of God, a Church of Christ, and a Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
