Bennie Fuller scored 102 points in a basketball match against Leola; this was the most points ever scored by a deaf high school player in a certified varsity game and helped to make Fuller the all-time leading scorer in Arkansas boys’ high school basketball history. Fuller had grown up near Hensley (Pulaski County) and played for the Arkansas School for the Deaf in Little Rock, scoring 4,896 points from 1968 to 1971. He was inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.
