In October 1974, longtime congressman from Arkansas Wilbur D. Mills suffered personal embarrassment and political damage when his car was pulled over by U.S. Park Service Police in Washington DC for not having the headlights on. Stripper Fanne Foxe bolted from the car of the obviously intoxicated Mills and jumped into the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial. Foxe later published a book titled The Stripper and the Congressman detailing her relationship with Mills.
