Shown here is the larva of one of the most spectacular of the 132 resident butterflies found in Arkansas, the Diana fritillary. Arkansas, with Act 156 of 2007, designated this butterfly as its Official State Butterfly, the only state to do so. It has been sighted in twenty-four of the states seventy-five counties.
