Educated as a lawyer, John Grisham, bestselling author and Jonesboro (Craighead County) native, once described himself as a “pretty good story teller” who “sold too many books to be taken seriously as a literary writer.” Grisham’s breakout book, with the film rights purchased before publication in 1991, was his second novel, The Firm.
