Blanchard Springs Caverns is a magnificent limestone cave system located in Stone County. The cave system contains many speleothems, or secondary mineral deposits. Many speleothems are named for their resemblance to manmade or natural objects. One of the more interesting such formations in Blanchard Springs is formed in the shape of the hull of a battleship and is thus known as the battleship formation.
