In 1934, the Arkansas State League, a Class D baseball league, was formed. Within two years, Missouri teams had been added, and the name was changed to the Arkansas-Missouri League. In 1937, the Fayetteville Angels, shown here in this 1939 photo, joined the league. During their first year of play, the Angels finished in second place and, by 1939, were the only Arkansas team remaining in the much-modified league, which finally folded in 1940.
