Kingsland (Cleveland County) native and music legend Johnny Cash, wearing a custom-made bicentennial-themed shirt, is shown in this photo visiting his hometown in March 1976, the year of the national bicentennial of independence. Accompanied by his wife, June, he then traveled by train to nearby Rison (Cleveland County), where he performed in a free concert to an estimated crowd of 12,000. Later in the year, Cash served as the Grand Marshal for the National Bicentennial Parade.
