The World War II–era Japanese Relocation Center at Jerome in Drew and Chicot counties was designed as a self-sufficient community. Barracks, schools, gymnasiums, canteens, and a hospital section, among others, were part of the center. Shown here is the camp hospital crew posing with ambulances and other hospital vehicles.
