The 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, the centennial celebration of the purchase of Louisiana, was held in St. Louis, Missouri, and drew approximately 20 million visitors. The Arkansas exhibits included a Greek-style exhibit hall known as the Arkansas Building. The building, located in St. Louis’s Forest Park, was designed to exhibit state products and resources. Arkansas exposition expenditure, approximately $80,000, was double what the state had spent at any previous such exposition.
