The USS Arkansas (M-7) was one of four monitor-class naval vessels built near the turn of the twentieth century. It was built by Virginia’s Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company. It was launched on November 10, 1900, with a crew of 220 sailors. When a new ship named Arkansas was commissioned in 1909, the M-7 was renamed the USS Ozark. It is shown here shortly after the renaming. The ship was scrapped in 1922.
