Noted artist John Salvest began teaching sculpture and three-dimensional design at Arkansas State University (ASU) in Jonesboro (Craighead County) in 1989. This 1994 work, Flag, consisting of wood and red-, white-, and blue-tipped matches, was the Grand Award winner in the Arkansas Art Center’s thirty-seventh annual Delta Exhibition.
