In 1882, one of the world’s largest black-owned business enterprises, the Mosaic Templars of America (MTA), was founded in Little Rock (Pulaski County). The organization engaged in a number of business ventures nationwide, requiring a large staff of secretaries such as the ones shown here at the headquarters in the 1920s.
