In 1868, the first formal Lutheran congregation was formed in Arkansas by Pastor Martin Wynekan in Fort Smith (Sebastian County). In the same year, while on a trip up the Arkansas River, the pastor met with German Lutherans in the Little Rock (Pulaski County) home of Charles Miller on Rector Street, shown here, and formed the First Lutheran Church of Little Rock.
