René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle

Explorer René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle, who reached Arkansas in 1682 and stopped with his men at the Quapaw village of Kappa, a settlement located on the Mississippi River approximately twenty miles south of the mouth of the White River.
