William Conley Lee “Big Bill” Broonzy performing his signature tune, “Big Bill Blues,” which was originally recorded in Chicago, Illinois, on February 12, 1936, for the Melotone label. Broonzy spent his childhood years near Pine Bluff (Jefferson County), where he had his earliest experiences as a songwriter and performer.
