Arkansas provided approximately 2,000 soldiers for service in the 1898 Spanish-American War, mainly serving in the First and Second Arkansas Volunteers. This photo shows a group of soldiers and a military band on the streets of Judsonia (White County). They are possibly members of the Trippe Rifles of the Second Volunteers, a unit in which several White County men served. Neither of the Arkansas regiments left the United States or were engaged in actual combat.
