Governor Charles Brough addresses a crowd outside the Elaine Mercantile Co. after the Elaine Massacre in 1919. A shooting incident at a meeting of the Progressive Farmers and Household Union on September 30, 1919, escalated into white mob violence in Elaine and surrounding areas.
