At the world premiere of the movie, End of the Line in Little Rock (Pulaski County), Arkansas natives Mary Steenburgen and Jay Russell, both of whom starred in the movie and both of whose fathers were railroad workers, dedicated the film to all those who worked on railroads. In addition to playing a lead role in the picture, Steenburgen was executive producer. End of the Line was the first film directed by Jay Russell, who went on to direct many well-known movies. In spite of local excitement, the film received mixed reviews and had a lackluster performance at the box office.
