After being towed from Turkey, where it had been slated for decommissioning, and after conservation work, the submarine Razorback was opened for public visits as part of the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum. It is Arkansas’s only historic naval vessel open for public viewing. The museum, on the bank of the Arkansas River at North Little Rock (Pulaski County), opened officially in July 2005. It is also the site of a memorial to the USS Snook, one of fifty-two submarines lost during World War II and adopted by Arkansas for commemorative purposes. Two barges, one of which serves as the museum’s visitor center, are also anchored there. In 2015, the historic tugboat USS Hoga became part of the museum.
