The governing board of Harding College decided that, in view of the school’s dramatic increase in student population and faculty, breadth of programs offered, and expanded facilities, the institution should be designated a university rather than a college. Harding University is now the largest private educational institution in the state and has additional campuses in Florence, Italy, and Athens, Greece, as well as programs offered in five other foreign countries.
