The most notable event in Booneville (Logan County) history occurred when a train carrying President Franklin D. Roosevelt made its only stop in Arkansas in Booneville during the president’s nationwide whistle-stop campaign for his third term. He appeared on the platform of the last train car and made a short speech to a crowd of about 3,000.
