Burglars blew open the safe of the Hicks Grocery Company in Texarkana (Miller County) and stole more than $150. They used nitroglycerine to blow the safe door into small pieces, but the explosion was not heard due to sacks of rice piled atop the safe. A larger amount of money had been banked by the company the previous day, but the burglars missed it. They were never caught.
