November 7, 1963

Located along State Highway 37, the town of Beedeville (Jackson County), located near the Cache River, was incorporated. The first settler to occupy the area was William H. Beede, who helped to organize the first public school in the area. Though many of the early settlers were involved in farming, the hardwood trees along the river drew in many timber industry investors. The town grew but remained unincorporated until 1963, after most of the timber had been exploited and the sawmills closed. The town became an agricultural community, growing rice and soybeans as they moved into the twentieth century.
