Henry C. Gibson of Yell County was granted patent number 575,534 on January 5, 1897, for the H. C. Gibson Turkey Caller and Gobbler, the first box-style turkey call patented in the United States. Though the box-style call was eventually known as the Gibson Turkey Box, John Boddie of Arkadelphia (Clark County) was given half of the patent. The call was produced and sold for several decades, with ads appearing in magazines as late as 1921.
