One week after Devils Den State Park was created in 1933, members of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) moved in and began work on a number of projects. Over approximately the next nine years, the CCC, shown here in this 1934 photo, constructed a dam on Lee Creek, hiking trails, cabins, campgrounds, and many other projects. Today, Devils Den State Park, one of the most popular parks in northwest Arkansas, is considered one of the best preserved CCC park developments in the United States.
