Orval Faubus served six consecutive terms as governor, longer than any other person in the history of the state. First elected in 1954, Faubus was last elected in 1964. During that 1964 campaign, from which this autographed brochure originates, Faubus easily defeated his Democratic primary competition and, in the general election, defeated newcomer Winthrop Rockefeller with fifty-six percent of the vote. After leaving the governor’s office in 1967, Faubus unsuccessfully sought the position of governor three times.
