A visitor to many of the small towns of Arkansas will discover that one of the oldest buildings in the community is often the railroad depot, such as the depot shown here in Beebe (White County). In the days of passenger trains, any town of modest size was usually home to such a structure. Over the years, as passenger service declined, many of the buildings were closed and left to decay. Fortunately, a number of them have survived. Some have been restored and house museums, city offices, or private businesses.
