The Southern Tenant Farmers Museum officially opened on October 6, 2006, in Tyronza (Poinsett County). The museum, which was developed and now owned by Arkansas State University (ASU), preserves the history of tenant farming and the Southern Tenant Farmers’ Union. The museum is located in the historic building that once housed the businesses of H. L. Mitchell and Clay East, principal founders of the union. In the 1930s, the building served as the union’s unofficial headquarters.
